It’s an interesting feeling to have half of your rational being force itself one way, and the other a different, especially when it pertains to something you’re fully invested in. I hope that this aporetic dilemma will eventually work itself out. It is suffering to exist in the confusion. But it means too much to not be here.

We live in interesting ass times, never boring. But I’m not sure I like the ride anymore. Don’t tell me you’re not tired of where you’re standing. Most days I don’t know what to make of what’s in front of me. Sometimes I’m feeling a little bit Schopenhauer, and feeling like suffering is just the positive element of life. Sometimes I’m feeling a little Camus, trying to rebel against the nothingness. But most days I just don’t get it. The sensory inputs don’t cohere to a truly meaningful moment. And then once again I am lost to whatever prank my ignorance wishes to play on me. Despair is not an option because in the real that we experience through the big five, it yields no fruits, no hope of wisdom being obtained through this effortless pursuit. But if I relieve myself of any alternative from which I approach my path with a still motion, I am just as in the dark as ever. Maybe I’ll close my eyes, inhale, and live briefly without any foresight of what lies ahead. Maybe then ill forget where I am

I’ll leave names out of it, for the sake of anonymity. But I was left with this profound feeling as I departed from class today. The class was oddly enough titled “the meaning of life”, and he was telling us a story about his father and when he passed away. The teacher typically says things in a very happy and almost “let’s laugh at the way of the world” tone. But even though he began his tale with a smile on his face, we understood the personal feelings he held within his words. He proceeded to tell us about a phone call that happened between him and the doctor that was watching over his father when he was in the the last few months of his life. He asks the doctor how it is in the end. The doctor goes on to tell him about how his father opted to take experimental medication, and how that prolonged his life for about 2 months. But for the last 2 months of his life, it was hell. The doctor went on to tell him, never miss an opportunity to die

When Stan Lee visited New York in January 1983, the editorial staff was at the peak of its yuk-yuk, hand-buzzer giddiness. They’d been shooting photos of each other in superhero costumes for some of the covers—several staff members appeared on the cover of the last issue of SPIDER-WOMAN—and now they were putting together a comic that consisted wholly of photos of intra-office hijinks. They wanted to include Stan the Man. Lee, the original ringmaster, jumped at the chance to pose for a nude centerfold. Marvel staffers photographed Lee with an oversize comic book covering his private parts; soon after, they received a call from his assistant in L.A. “Stan is wild,” said the assistant. “He should not have been naked for your centerfold. Please. Don’t.” (A Hulk costume was later superimposed over Lee’s body in postproduction.)
